The 8th World Tribology Congress (WTC 2026) will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 20 to 25, 2026.

WTC 2026 is jointly organised by the Brazilian Tribology Network (TriboBr), the Brazilian Association of Mechanical Sciences (ABCM), and the Brazilian branch of MRS (SBPMat), and endorsed by the Brazilian Academy of Science (ABC), the Brazilian National Institute on Green Tribology and Energy Transition (CT-Trib),   and the International Tribology Council (ITC).

WTC 2026 will comprise scientific sessions, plenary, keynote, and invited talks on topics at the cutting edge of various Tribology disciplines, a wide exhibition, and various events. The congress will take place in the stunning city of Rio de Janeiro, in Barra da Tijuca, home of the 2016 Olympic Games. Popularly known as Barra, it is the youngest and safest neighbourhood in Rio, offering a plethora of options for culture, fun, entertainment, tranquillity, safety and adventure. The venue, The Windsor Convention & Expo Centre, located just steps from the beach in Barra da Tijuca, offers a complete structure for successful events.
